About this course
This course has been written in close collaboration with an array of students and industry professionals to develop a unique and exciting course. The qualification is designed to provide you with vast opportunities to develop skills in your specialist chosen pathway in fashion and textiles.
In Year One the main focus will be developing students' knowledge and understanding of fashion and textiles design with emphasis on demonstrating their ability to work independently, improving their drawing and constructive skills. A range of print, stitch, knit, weaves and felt constructed textile workshops will be delivered in order for them to become familiar with experimental techniques using traditional processes. Furthermore, digital workshops will allow students to become familiar with the use of Photoshop and Illustrator allowing them to scan and manipulate their fashion and textile designs. Basic pattern cutting skills will be addressed in order for students to become familiar with garment construction techniques.
In Year Two the main focus will be further developing students' knowledge and understanding of combining traditional techniques with contemporary processes. They will have the opportunity to learn design repeat and construct garments using fabric manipulation techniques. Apart from that, advanced research methods will allow them to recognise trending forecasts supporting them to produce innovative and original bespoke designs.

- A minimum of 160 UCAS points
- Two A-Levels, at least one of which is in the area of Art and Design
- BTEC Extended Diploma in Art and Design, Fashion and Textiles, 3D Design
- Access qualification in a related field
- Experience in a professional or amateur field of fashion and textilesInternational Baccalaureate
