About this course

This programme is designed to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of animal management and the underpinning science which will equip you with the necessary knowledge to assess the welfare needs of animals. It enables you to acquire practical animal management skills and devise appropriate management strategies pertinent to the animal sector. It focuses on the scientific knowledge required for a career in animal health and welfare.

This broad based programme allows for the development of an interest in a particular species or niche area in the industry. The recently extended facilities include housing for a range of species including reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates, small mammals, horses and birds. The dog grooming facilities alongside the equine unit gives access to larger mammals.

Entry Requirements

  • 120 UCAS points
  • Extended Diploma/A2 Level/Access to HE Diploma or equivalent
  • GCSEs English Language and Mathematics Grade C or above or equivalent


  • Students without necessary qualifications but with relevant work experience are encouraged to apply for an interview
  • Students with relevant HNCs may be able to transfer credit in certain modules onto the Foundation Degree
