About City of Bristol College

City of Bristol College is one of the largest further and higher education colleges in the UK. It is a college with a rich history dating back to the c16th and the college was formed in 1996 when Brunel College merged with South Bristol College.

The College offers the widest range of academic and vocational qualifications in the area, with more than 1,000 courses available. Courses offered are in the area including, Diplomas, AS/A2 Level courses, Apprenticeships and NVQs.

There are also flexible courses which allow students to work at their own pace with the support of college tutors. University level courses include Foundation Degrees, HNCs and Access to HE in partnership with University of Plymouth, Bath Spa University, University of the West of England, University of Gloucestershire and University of Bristol.

The college has gained Beacon status for high quality teaching and learning, accredited in 1998 and awarded ‘Gold’ status in year 2010. The most recent Ofsted report (2010) highlights as ‘outstanding’ the College’s response to meeting the needs of students and employer.

The college aims to be a leading force in unlocking potential, transforming lives and contributing to the prosperity of Bristol and the region and working together to place the needs of learners and customers first and making the most of the professionalism of the staff.

City of Bristol College offers some of the best teaching and training facilities in the region.

There are Learning Resource Centres (LRCs) at six of the College’s centres and all LRC offers facilities such as below:

  • Computers and laptops with internet, MS Office and other software
  • Group and individual study areas
  • Books and online resources for your studies
  • Colour printing and photocopying
  • Support from helpful, experienced staff

Restaurants, salons, workshops media studios also available in the campus area.

The college is mainly situated at Bristol, which has the great location for students. It is just 90 minutes from London by train, 30 minutes from the UNESCO World Heritage City of Bath, and it is easy to reach the beautiful English countryside and coastal areas.
