About this course
Webster University Thailand’s Master of Arts in Media Communications has been developed for curious minds that are drawn to study about the manner in which society is able to use media to communicate ideas. For those that have a background in the communications field and for students that are looking to expand their horizons, the program provides a framework to explore an array of areas. The specialized configuration of the degree will enable media professionals to propel their career forwards and enrich their credentials in the field. The MA in Media Communications provides an opportunity for students to examine media from numerous perspectives and to reflect on ideas and beliefs beyond their own. As you progress through the coursework, you’ll evaluate the many cultural, economic and political dimensions that are present in all media communication. Students in this program will understand how media is produced and conduct research on cultural media presentations as well as political communication and propaganda. Beyond this, your classes will prompt you to consider how media can be a product, a process and a vehicle for commentary in society.
- The minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 on a 4 point scale, or its equivalent. Academic achievement in programs that use a different assessment scale is evaluated in the context of the relevant academic system.
- Applicants with grade-point average of less than 2.5 are eligible for provisional admission consideration.
- The English language proficiency minimum requirement is a TOEFL score of 575 points on the Paper-based test (PBT) or 89 points Internet-based test (iBT), an IELTS score Overall band 6.5 pr Pearson 53.
- Students whose English language proficiency test scores do not meet the minimum requirement will be assigned to an English as a Second Language (ESL).
