Entry Requirements

Admission Requirements include:

  • A minimum of 42 credits at level 3 or higher on the National Qualifications Framework(NQF), including a minimum of 14 credits at level 3 or higher in each of two subjects from the NZQA "approved subject" list, with a further 14 credits at level 3 of higher taken from one or two additional domains on the NQF of approved subjects
  • 14 credits in mathematics at NCEA Level 2 and 14 credits in one other science subject at NCEA Level 2
  • A minimum of 8 literacy credits at level 2 or higher in English or Te Reo Māori; 4 credits must be in reading and 4 credits must be in writing. The literacy credits will be selected from a schedule of approved achievement standards and unit standards; or
  • Three C grades in the NZ University Entrance; or
  • Equivalent National Qualifications Framework units,or
  • Equivalent qualification
  • Candidates who have English as a second language are required to have an International English Language Test System (IELTS) score of 6.0, with no individual band score lower than 5.5; or equivalent.
  • Special admission may be granted to applicants aged 20 years or over that do not meet the specified entry requirements. These candidates may be required to demonstrate an ability to successfully complete the programme through a process of an interview and/or assessment.
