Victoria is one of three universities in New Zealand offering a BA degree in Pacific Studies and our postgraduate programme is also expanding steadily. The Pacific Studies Programme provides students the chance to develop critical perspectives on knowledge about the diverse cultures and communities of the Pacific. Attention is given to processes of both continuity and change in Pacific societies and communities. Pacific Studies at Victoria emphasises a cultural studies approach (along the lines of the Birmingham School) to analysing historical and contemporary phenomena.
