Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements listed here are the likely grades required and do not guarantee entry. The university assesses each application individually and applicants may require a higher grade to be offered a place.

University of Auckland

Completed one of the following with a GPA of 4.5:

  • Bachelor (Honours) degree or Postgraduate Diploma in an IT-related field. 75 points must be from courses above stage III, with at least 45 points 700 level, in an IT-related field (Taught 120 points)
  • Bachelors degree in an IT-related field. 75 points must be from courses at Stage III or above, with at least 45 points in an IT-related field (Taught 180 points)
  • An undergraduate degree in any discipline. Relevant work experience may be considered (Taught 240 points)

Another tertiary institution

Completed one of the following with a GPE of 4.5 from a recognised university (or similar institution):

  • One year of postgraduate study in an IT-related field (Taught 120 points)
  • Bachelors degree in an IT-related field (Taught 180 points)
  • An undergraduate degree in any discipline. Relevant work experience may be considered (Taught 240 points)

Curriculum

The MInfoTech offers three options for students from different study backgrounds who would like to advance their ICT career.

180-point masters students must complete the following:

  • Industry internship worth 60 points
  • At least 45 points from technical skills courses
  • At least 45 points from complementary skills courses
  • Up to 30 points from other approved 600 or 700-level courses

120-point masters students must complete the following:

  • Industry internship worth 60 points
  • At least 45 points from complementary skills courses
  • Up to 15 points from other approved 600 or 700-level courses 

240-point masters students must complete the following:

  • Industry internship worth 60 points
  • 60 points: COMPSCI 718 and COMPSCI 719
  • At least 45 points from technical skills courses
  • At least 45 points from complementary skills courses
  • Up to 30 points from other approved 600 or 700-level courses
