About this course
The Diploma in Beauty Therapy (Level 5) will provide students with the skills and knowledge required to perform a range of treatments at a professional level within the commercial environment. (Student must have a current First Aid certificate whilst training for your Diploma in Beauty Therapy. This may be obtained through SIT, Red Cross or St Johns.)
These treatments include manicure, pedicure services, depilatory wax service, facial treatments,make up, electrology, facial electrics and massage. Graduates of the Diploma in Beauty Therapy will be able to consult with a client, establish the needs of the client on the basis of consultation, conduct the prescribed treatment and service in the area of expertise in a professional manner, and maintain communication with the client.

Applicants should be a minimum of 17 years of age, with a minimum of four years secondary education.
Applicants should have NCEA with 12 credits or more at level 2 in each of three or more subjects. Preferred school subjects include science, English, chemistry and biology.
Mature applicants are welcome.
All applicants should demonstrate a keen interest in beauty therapy and a basic competence in spoken and written English. For those students for whom English is not their first language an IELTS score of 6.0 is required.
Applicants must be able to fully participate in all classes and receive all treatments as listed in the course content including electrical treatments, massage and waxing etc.
Students must have a current Comprehensive First Aid certificate whilst training for the Diploma in Beauty Therapy. This may be obtained through SIT, Red Cross or St Johns.
