About this course
By pursuing this program at Otago Polytechnic, students may gain sound knowledge, better understanding and practical appreciation of civil engineering processes as well as its theory. This program will also help students to develop their ability to apply learning in a practical and innovative way. There is a significant shortage of trained civil engineer technicians, particularly in roading. And with this shortage, it is expected to become more acute in the short term so that their skills and experience will be highly sought after. Employment opportunities within construction companies, mining companies or local authorities may arise. Moreover, students could even set their sights on becoming a civil engineering consultant or contractor once they have enough knowledge and further experience.
