About this course

Students will gain knowledge and skills for ecology, conservation and environmental management. The first year of the programme is the Certificate in Conservation and Environmental Management. Graduates will be able to:

  • Demonstrate a comprehensive ecological knowledge of Northland’s terrestrial, freshwater and coastal ecosystems
  • Communicate an understanding of, and some solutions to, regional, national and global challenges to biodiversity and resource management
  • Engage appropriate resources for an environmental investigation
  • Apply practical skills to monitor ecosystem dynamics, and analyze, comprehend and evaluate results
  • Demonstrate involvement in the active protection and restoration of the natural, rural or urban environments in Northland
  • Discuss the value of networking with others working in the field

Entry Requirements

  • Successful completion of the certificate in Conservation and Environmental Management will  allow direct entry into year two of the Diploma. 

English Entry Requirements

  • IELTS score of 6 with no band lower than 5.5, or NZCEL Level 5 with an endorsement of either Academic or Professional
