About this course

This program will produce graduates that can work as programmer, assistant IT officer, web developer, technical support staff, assistant database administrator, assistant system administrator, assistant network engineer, IT entrepreneur and any related jobs in the IT industry. The graduates may also further their studies in a Bachelor of Computer Science or bachelor in any related field at local or foreign universities.

To fulfill the objective of this programme, the graduate should be able to

  1. Demonstrate semi professional competencies such as the skill of computer hardware management, algorithm, programming, software design and development by applying knowledge in computer science and Information Technology (IT) areas.
  2. Solve technical problems in computer science and IT fields and able to work in multidisciplinary teams.

Entry Requirements

A) GENERAL MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Obtained a pass in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or equivalent qualifications, with a minimum of FIVE (5) credits (GRADE C) inclusive of a credit in Bahasa Melayu, and a pass (GRADE E) in History at the SPM level.

B) SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

1. Obtained credits (GRADE C) in the following subjects:

  • Mathematics
  • THREE (3) other subjects (NOT inclusive of previously listed subjects with credits)

2. Obtained a pass (GRADE E) in English Language.

Candidates for Diploma in Architecture programme need to pass a test and an interview carried out by the university. OR

A) GENERAL MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Obtained a pass in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or equivalent qualifications, with a minimum of FOUR (4) credits (GRADE C) inclusive of a credit in Bahasa Melayu subject, and a pass (GRADE E) in History subject at the SPM level.

B) SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

1. Obtained credits (GRADE C) in THREE (3) other subjects (NOT inclusive of previously listed subjects with credits).

2. Obtained credits (GRADE C) in the following subjects:

  • Mathematics
  • English Language

3. Obtained a pass in Pre-Diploma (non-Engineering), and obtained credits (GRADE C) in all subjects, with a minimum of:

  • CGPA 2.50 in the programme of Diploma in Computer Science.
  • CGPA 2.00 in the programmes of other than Diploma in Computer Science.

Students who are admitted to the university without credits in Mathematics (for the programmes of Diploma in Computer Science and Diploma in Quantity Surveying) are required to take Mathematics at the SPM level and obtain a minimum of a credit (GRADE C) before graduating in order to obtain the award of a diploma conferred by the University.

Malaysia Dynamic, Introductory Academic English, Digital Logic, Introduction to Computer Science, Programming Fundamental, Mathematics for Computer Science, Science Technology and Human, Intermediate Academic English, Discrete Mathematics, Computer Organization and Assembly Language, Data Communications and Networking, C++ Programming.

Year 2

Communication Skills, Operating Systems, Data Structures and Algorithms, Object Oriented Programming Using Java, Systems Analysis and Design Methods, Statistics, Co-curriculum Service Learning, Database, Software Engineering, Web Programming, Mobile Programming.

Year 3

Computer Security, Elective I, Elective II, Elective III, Computer Hardware Management and Services, Industrial Training, Industrial Training Report.
