PMC’s 20th Anniversary is Marked by International Awards fr RCSI & UCD

Marking Penang Medical College’s (PMC) 20th Anniversary in 2016, its owners, the world-renowned Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) and University College Dublin (UCD), were both honoured with the CHT Awards 2016 on Saturday 16th January 2016, in recognition of their outstanding achievements and contributions to Irish and global societies. The CHT Awards, founded by CHTNetwork, were established to acknowledge outstanding leaders and organisations that have contributed to the welfare and the advancement of societies.

 

 

The Guest of Honour, His Royal Highness The Crown Prince of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Ibni Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail presented the awards to Professor Kevin B Nolan, Vice President of Academic Affairs and Registrar of PMC who received them on behalf of Professor Cathal Kelly, Registrar/CEO of RCSI and Professor Patrick Murray, Dean of Medicine, UCD. RCSI and UCD, are two of Ireland’s most prestigious Universities/Medical Schools with medical education histories of over 230 years and 180 years respectively. Professor Nolan informed the audience that it was a great honour for RCSI and UCD to receive the awards and emphasised how delighted both institutions were to have such close ties with Malaysia.  He added that PMC has now graduated over 1300 doctors, many of whom hold key positions in the Malaysian healthcare system and abroad, thanks to a fit-for-purpose education and training and preparedness for 21st century patient care.

 

 

RCSI and UCD were among 24 outstanding leaders and organisations from 9 countries who were bestowed with the CHT Awards 2016. Her Royal Highness The Crown Princess of Perlis Tuanku Hajjah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil presented the CHT Pursuit of Excellence Awards to the Malaysian achievers. The awards ceremony and gala dinner welcomed over 400 invited guests from different countries, as well as ambassadors and other dignitaries including the Ambassador of Lebanon, His Excellency Ali Daher & his spouse; the Cambodian Ambassador HRH Samdech Reach Botrei Preah Anoch Norodom Arunrasmy and the Pakistan Ambassador, His Excellency Mr Hassan Raza and his spouse.

 

 

The CHTNetwork was founded by Ch’ng Huck Theng with the aim of connecting networks of clients and associates in the academic and business world with the public.
