Entry Requirements

  • SPM with 2 credits in Bahasa Malaysia and one other subject in Science or Mathematics
  • Any other equivalent qualification

Curriculum

Year One - In the first year, trainees will acquire:

  • Knowledge, skills and interpersonal behaviours required in:
  • Obtaining general medical and ophthalmic history from patient
  • Performing basic eye examination and eye care.
  • Providing outpatient car in areas of ophthalmologist clinics, treatment room and specialty areas
  • Giving health teaching to patients and the public
  • Caring for patients before and after eye surgery

Year Two - In the second year, trainees are taught knowledge and competencies in:

  • Caring for patients in the operation theatre
  • Handling and maintaining ophthalmic surgical equipments and instruments
  • Assisting in eye surgeries
  • Performing assessments for low vision persons
  • Instructing low vision persons in the use of low vision aids
