About this course

The aim of this Master of Science in Sustainability (by research) programme is to produce graduates who are passionate and cognizant about the sustainability of the planet’s natural resources whilst ensuring human survival well into the future. The Master of Science in Sustainability (MSSus) is an interdisciplinary, thesis-based programme that can be completed in 3 semesters (1.5 years) of full-time study. Students are required to complete a thesis and a minimum of 9 credits of course work. The Faculty of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (FSTEM) in IUMW welcomes a wide range of research topics in sustainability.

Entry Requirements

Malaysian Students

  • A Bachelor's Degree in the relevant field with minimum CGPA of 2.75;
  • A Bachelor's Degree in the relevant field with CGPA below 2.75 but above 2.50 may be admitted subject to a rigorous internal assessment process; 
  • Fulfill other entry requirements that are recognised by the University Senate; 
  • Must sit for IUMW English Placement Test.

International Students

  • A Bachelor's Degree in the relevant field with minimum CGPA of 2.75; 
  • A Bachelor's Degree in the relevant field with CGPA below 2.75 but above 2.50 may be admitted subject to a rigorous internal assessment process; 
  • Fulfill other entry requirements that are recognised by the University Senate; 
  • Pass IELTS with minimum band 6, or TOEFL with minimum score of 547; 
  • Must sit for IUMW English Placement Test.
