How is the academic life at this university/college? As a Medical student fresh out of first year, I think the course offered has been immensely satisfying thus far. From an up to date curriculum to a competent and easily approachable teaching faculty, UCC does a great job at easing freshers into the profession. The first year course material was delivered through a series of lectures alongside smaller tutorials and labs frequently interspersed between them which provided students with individual attention and a less intimidating environment for inquiry. The course material is also easily accessible through Blackboard which runs very smoothly. With Medicine being one of the more recent courses to be introduced in the university, the syllabus still has much room for improvement though it isn't lacking in any way. What are the students like? Students around campus are generally helpful and approachable, even more so with my course mates despite the huge cohort. What do students do when not studying? Tell us about the social and sports life. UCC offers up a huge range of societies to pick from. The presence and recent renovation of the Mardyke Arena makes for an even bigger selection of sports to choose from given the added facilities. There's definitely something for everyone here. What is your overall opinion about this university/college? UCC is an excellent university that has really welcomed me in with open arms. The beautiful campus and rustic buildings (yes, I know what you're thinking. It does look very much like Hogwarts!) convey a deep sense of tradition; one that I feel very much a part off despite being an international student. The Health Sciences faculty isn't within the main campus, though it's only a 5 minute walk away if the isolation ever gets to you.
