Curriculum
The curriculum is divided into two parts: During the first year (first and second semester), the lectures are focused on a postgraduate education in general physics, lab courses, and seminars. Elective lectures allow for a specialization and can be chosen from a rich variety of topics in different fields of physics. During the last year (third and fourth semester) students concentrate on their master thesis. This research project is carried out in a physics institute at the University of Stuttgart or a participating Max Planck institute. During this time, the students are fully integrated into the research activity of the institute, and the education focuses on the skills required to perform state of the art scientific research.
