About this course

Civil engineers accompany the construction process from planning to completion, maintenance, and renovation. Examples are: buildings and their technical features, tunnels, bridges, streets, waterways. Civil engineers also create the foundations for an innovative, urban infrastructure – including consideration of climate change and demographic changes, for example infrastructure solutions for the supply and waste management of cities and mobility adaptations. They focus their attention on sustainability, energy efficiency, and resource conservation. They are active in planning, calculating, evaluating, implementing, and coordinating (construction planning, statics, building site, building materials, construction site controlling, large project management, etc.). When civil engineers do resarch, they attend to adaptation strategies in infrastructure, develop innovative and regenerative building materials, optimize the energy efficiency of buildings, present safety prognoses, evaluate the environmental sustainability, calculate the profitability, and much more.
