The Department of Mathematics conducts research in many core fields of mathematics, which are also relevant to physics, information technology, and economics. It offers bachelor, master, and diploma programs as well as teacher training courses.
The Department of Computer Science conducts research with a focus on mobile computing and IT management, database systems and data mining, semantic web, software engineering, logic, and formal methods as well as bioinformatics and media informatics. It is distinguished by its interdisciplinary connection with numerous partners in the sciences and humanities. The department offers programs and degrees in classical computer sciences, bioinformatics, and media informatics as well as teaching credentials for computer science, and it trains students from all fields in the basics of information technology.
The Department of Statistics conducts research into the development of empirical models and methods for statistical data analysis. It pursues an interdisciplinary approach, combining theoretical research and applications in empirical sciences, such as economics, medicine, biology, and sociology. It offers a German diploma program as well as bachelor and several master programs.
