How is the academic life at the Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU)?
Studying in UCTI is very strict as all academic matters are organized to ensure students and lecturers follow the same standards in marking assignments, projects and exam papers. Scoring an A can be a challenge for us, thus we must study hard everyday to be able to compete with everyone in class.
The lecturers are friendly and very helpful to guide us from the beginning until the end of the semester. They will always spare some time to share their experiences and how to apply the theories we learned in the working world.
What are the students like at the Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU)?
There are more international students then local students in UCTI. It is obvious that the studying environment becomes multicultural and very dynamic in nature. This is due to the different culture and backgrounds which these students bring and share with us in the campus.
Many students in UCTI are from Indonesia, Botswana and the Middle East. There are students coming from more than 60 countries around the globe. Even from countries I never heard before. Sharing my student life with them and building friendship with them was an awesome experience for me.
What do students do when not studying? Tell us about the social and sports life.
There are many student societies such as sports and martial arts club, debating and public speaking club, dance and art clubs and many more which always kept students active in campus. These clubs hold events and activities which brings many benefits to the members as well as other students in the campus.
Many country representative student council also have many to share in the campus. Some of the most active countries include Indonesia, Botswana, Pakistan, India and Sudan. They celebrate their Independence day and share their cultures with us in the campus making our student life more lively as we get to know more things from around the world.
What is your overall opinion about the Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU)?
The best thing about UCTI is that we get a UK degree and a UK education standard for a Malaysia price. UCTI offers a twinning program with Staffordshire University, UK hence we can get a UK degree with just studying in Malaysia.
The campus partnership with many universities in UK and Australia is also helpful for students who wanted to continue their degree or higher studies in these countries. Hence, UCTI also help students to seek for employment after they graduate from the university. This helps me a lot and I thing that is the best thing the campus offer.
Tell us about your overall experience in studying in Malaysia
I had a great experience studying in Malaysia. I did not have to face a huge culture shock as we have similar cultures to Malaysia, thus I fit in to the society just well. Malaysians are welcoming and happy to have foreigners studying in the country.
I liked studying in Malaysia since the transportation system is well organized and Malaysia is linked easily to neighboring countries such as Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia. Thus allows me to travel and visit many places easily when I have vacations with an affordable budget.
