Entry Requirements

Sports studies

Sports Studies will interest anyone with an enthusiasm for sport, exercise and health, coaching, teaching, sports management, sports marketing or development.

Your course takes place in a range of environments including the laboratory, lecture theatre, gymnasia and sports field. There are a wide choice of themes for you to follow, such as physical activity and health, coaching, sports performance and management of sport.

If you are considering a career as a Physical Education teacher, a joint PE and Sports Studies pathways runs National Curriculum modules (subject to availability) which provide a strong foundation for the Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).

You will have the opportunity to work within the sporting industry on placement, and opportunities also exist for you to study abroad.

Regional Sports Development and Coaching Officers are based on campus. You will benefit from excellent facilities, including the Worcester Sport Performance Centre, designated by UK Sports Institute (UKSI) as a regional provider of Sport Science Support, while the University of Worcester is a Sports Coach and Regional Coaching Centre.

National Governing Body Coaching Awards are available through the Coach Education Programme.
