Study MSc in Business Analytics at XJTLU!
What is Business Analytics?
In part because of the general use of connected devices (ex. smart phones) and of social media (ex. Linked In), firms are confronted to a new kind of data. This data is new because of its high velocity – i.e. updated in real time, which requires a high processing speed. It is also new because of its volume – i.e. databases bigger than the RAM of computers so they cannot be processed with traditional software and methods. Business analytics is a set of tools and technics which allow to explore, simplify, classify, store and manipulate this kind of data.
Why Business Analytics is important?
Because all organizations in all sectors are facing this “Big Data”. Big Data can be a challenge. It asks questions such as: how to store and how to secure these ever expanding data? How to make sure that our data processing capacities will remain up-to-date in the coming years? But big data is also very promising: new and better data mean opportunities for knowing clients better, for recruiting the right employees, or for predicting evolutions of prices on stock markets.
