China Spotlight - Science and Technology Boom
You likely know that China made historic contributions to civilisation, such as the compass, gunpowder, papermaking and printing, to name a few. Over the last two decades, China once again has invested heavily in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and now spends more annually on R&D than all of the EU countries combined. China is one of the best places in the world to pursue STEM disciplines.
XJTLU's home of Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP), is a science and technology hotspot even by Chinese standards! In addition to bio-medicine, nanotechnology and cloud computing, you will find research ventures in sustainable energy, robotics, software development and materials science. Such diverse, advanced research infrastructure and expertise are highly productive - companies in SIP typically file more than 5,000 patent applications each year.
