Institutions all define Humanities and Social Sciences differently. In general, the Humanities focus on disciplines such as literature, history, religion, philosophy, and arts regarding music and theatre. The Social Sciences disciplines are more involved with empirical methods to measure the human behaviour. Eligibility Requirements

Of course, studying abroad means requiring a visa. To study in China you need to secure a Study Visa (X-Visa). Further, if you plan to study in China for more than six months you will need the X1 Visa and for programmes that last less than six months, you will require the X2 Visa (also called the F-Visa). It is also possible to arrive in China with a tourist visa, with the condition to convert it to the Study visa.

Furthermore, for non-Chinese citizens, a high school graduation or the equivalent is required. Should you not be an English native speaker, then you will also require to take a English proficiency test such as IELTS and TOEFL, for proof of command of the language.

If you are to study the course in Chinese, then you will need a certification in the Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK). This certificate will prove your Chinese language proficiency if you are not a native-speaker. 

Cost of studying Humanities and Social Sciences in China

Besides the general costs such as housing, food, transport, and sightseeing, you will also have expenses regarding your education. Those expenses include the class materials, tuition fees, application costs, and sometimes even the registration costs. Every university has its own tuition costs, but in general bachelor degrees will cost between CNY 25,000 and CNY 30,000 per year.
