How Has Technology Evolved?
If I told you that the premise for the first computers were developed back in 2,400 BC, you’d probably think, “Hell, no! Wasn’t the world then just made up of nomads concerned about their next meal?” Well, the idea of computers originated from the idea of having a ‘simple device to aid calculation’. From the humble abacus to the modern day calculator, the human need to simplify calculations spawned the development of computers. Let’s take a look at where the story of computers started till where we are today.
Internet As A Game-Changer
Not only advancement of technology was dramatically affected by internet, we can even see its effects on careers and career options as a whole. Today, there are even businesses that function and obtain revenue solely from the Internet. Did you know that the highest YouTube earner in 2014 earned 5 million USD just by opening toy packages? “How could that be possible?” you may ask. Well, it’s the truth. Income is generated each time someone clicks ‘Play’ on the video due to an ad that plays before you can view the video. Who knows, the video owners might even get extra if someone clicks on the advert itself. Considering the channel gets 380 million views a month, it’s not surprising that they manage to earn that much. That’s just the tip of the iceberg in what you can do with the Internet in terms of jobs. Although advertising dominates the job-sphere on the Internet, internet businesses have also begun to spring up in the last decade. Examples are businesses which offer services online. Being a freelance writer, web-design, social media consultant, app development, online tech support, you name it! The services that you can offer online, and get paid for are numerous! This melting-pot of careers today was never seen in the last century and the credit has definitely got to go to the Internet which has opened up so many possibilities for humanity.
