The academic life is certainly not easy. I think back of the various challenges in coping with the MIT-style and standard coursework and assignments. Many late night hours and intense discussions were spent among group members on the coursework and assignments. More interestingly the Open Book exams which sounded easy but actually much more difficult to do!

However as one wise sage once said, “What that does not kill you, makes you stronger!”

The professors are very helpful and very open to questions and debate but that does not mean the marking is lenient - if you put in the hardwork, it will be rewarded.

At the end, I appreciate that the tough courses in each program and its associated research work has strengthened and deepened our knowledge of the subject matter at hand.

I cherished those fond memories together with fellow students, faculty members and not to forget the everful helpful librarians.

When not studying, there is the usual hangouts at the cafes and restaurants. Sports and social activities are organised on an ad-hoc basis among friends.

For me personally, the MUST post-graduate program has enhanced my career. It helped to boost my confidence to work at the international level and I am pleasantly surprised to finding myself at par with expatriates with degrees from US, UK and Australian universities.

I would say the learning process at MUST has sharpened my critical thinking and this makes a lot of difference to my work today !

After working for more than 5 years in United Arab Emirates, I would say that the graduates from local Malaysian universities can be just as good if not better than anybody else!

Of course we have to put in the hardwork and willing to learn and gain knowledge.

Nevertheless we should not rest on our laurels and must recognize that learning is a continuous process. We should crave for lifelong learning with application of our knowledge in the betterment of ourselves as well as for the benefit of society.
